Stay-at-home, and working-from-home policies became central solutions of most governments in order to flatten the curve and fight the virus. Parents world-wide had to homeschool their children, while working from the same living space “experiencing severe housing deprivation and overcrowding.”
Due to the lack of formal childcare, mothers disproportionately took on unpaid caregiving and educational responsibilities—had to withdraw from the public workforce—while children became isolated in their homes.
